The Busan Museum of Modern Art, in Busan, in South Korea was built with the idea of enhancing awareness among the citizens of Busan on art and culture, to offer an active and comfortable environment for art activities, and to contribute to overall improvement in art culture. The Busan Museum of Modern Art was opened to public on March 20, 1998. Since then Busan Museum of Modern Art has accordingly played the role of a comprehensive place for exhibiting diversified works of art created by people of Busan and Yungnam areas. By collecting, exhibiting and researching works of art and by exchanging globally art related activities and information this art museum contributes to a wide canvas of arts. Apart from functioning as an art museum, now it also acts as a platform to promote the civil culture and the social activities. The 3 story high Busan Museum of Modern Art, covering an area of 21,560 cubic meters not only consists of Exhibition Halls, Text Archive, Curatorial Office, Administrative Office, Outdoor Sculpture Park, etc. but also offers art shops, resting places, cafes, and a wide lobby with sunken and step gardens within the surrounding land. Such multiple attractions have helped the museum to draw people. One of the greatest attractions of Busan Museum of Modern Art is the grand exhibition hall on the second floor. With a total space of 1,684 cubic meters and height of 4.8 meters it is the largest single exhibition room in Korea. Moreover from the Busan Museum of Modern Art, one can enjoy the excellent scenic view of the Dongnae Mountains and the Bokcheon tomb.
