The Geumgang Botanical Garden, Busan located within the Geumgang Park in Busan is one of the three largest botanical gardens of the country of Korea. By offering a wide range of different types of plants the Geumgang Botanical Garden, Busan has emerged not only a popular tourist spot but also serves as an educational center.

The Geumgang Botanical Garden, Busan was established in the year 1969 and it is the first among the private-run botanical gardens. Covering an area of about 19,480 square meters the garden has 1,120species and displays over 2300 kinds of plants, which consist of 560 kinds of tropical plants, 20 kinds of coconut trees, and 540 kinds of succulent plant. The garden also has a reserve of plenty of top quality black pine trees. In addition to this the Geumgang Botanical Garden, Busan has a various selection of rare plants like imported cactus. Variety of native plants includes a coastal bush clover, a betula ermani and etc.

The Geumgang Botanical Garden, Busan receives a fairly reasonable amount of rainfall of about 1,466 mm and hence all plants are well nourished. Besides, quite a few staffs are also there to look after the garden and its huge reserve of variety of plants. Altogether at present there are 8 people employed here and they include 1 technical advisor, 1 head gardener, 1 horticulturist, 1 officer and 1 patrolman. These people not only help in maintaining the garden but also work towards the development of the garden by introducing more variety of plants in the garden.

By presenting such a wide range of plants as well as natural shaped rocks, the Geumgang Botanical Garden, Busan provides enough knowledge and information for the students interested in nature and serves as a botany research laboratory. It also serves a natural resting place, where you can relax in the midst of beautiful nature.

How to get there:
Take bus No. 77, 80, 110, 210, 211, or 301. Or take Subway Line No. 1 and get off at Oncheonjang (Exit 1 and walk for 15 minutes.
