Geumjeong Busan

Geumjeong district of Busan containing various tourist spots like Beomeosa a medieval Budhhist temple and the grand fort on Geumjeongsan Mountain is located in north central Busan. Pusan National University, commonly known as PNU in abbreviated form is the most prominent among the numerous educational institutes of this region. Some major transit points like Busan Subway Line adjacent to Busan's major express bus terminal along with the southern terminus of the Gyeongbu Expressway are all located within this district making Geumjeong the threshold of Central Busan.
The western landscape of Geumjeong, Busan is surrounded by Geumjeong Mountain whether the major part of the population is concentrated in the southern and northern areas of the district. This charming place with a touch of history is home to several tourist spots around it.

Beomeosa Temple
Built around 1,300 years ago, the Buddhist temple of Beomeosa is one of the most renowned religious places of South Korea. Treasuring some invaluable cultural relics like Threestory Pagoda and the main hall Daeungjeon, the temple is one of the top tourist sites of Busan.

Geumjeongsanseong Mountain Fortress
Steeped in mystery and legend this awe-inspiring fort is the largest in Korea. Perched on the hill only remaining 4 km of this majestic fortress overlooks the valley below. The winding mountain trail leading to the fort gives magnificent panoramic view.

Geumjeongsan Mountain
Encircling the northern part of Geumjeong, Busan this lush green mountain flaunting several peaks is famous for Geumgang Park, Beomeosa (Temple), Geumjeongsanseong (Mountain Fortress) and Sanseongmaeul Village.

Geumjeong Cultural Center
Capable of organizing large scale cultural events like music concerts, dance performances and art exhibition this center caters to the aesthetic needs of the citizens.

Korean Catholic Martyrs’ Memorial Hall
This hall was formed in the honor of Catholic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their faith.
