Songdo Busan
South Korea - Daegu - Incheon - Jeju - Seoul - Daejeon
Situated at the western part of downtown Busan , Songdo was opened in 1913 as the first beach of this beautiful port city. After conducting a one year long restoration program under Coast Maintenance Project, this beach was reopened for common people in 2005.
This 450 meter long sandy strip of Songdo, Busan has derived its name from the nearby pine forest as the term “Song “ refers to Pine trees in Chinese language. It is believed that in past a dense pine forest existed at this place. According to another popular story, there was a wood full with pine trees on a turtle shaped island at the eastern part of the sea.
Lacking in popularity or extraordinary scenic beauty in comparison to other famous beaches like Haeundae or Gwangili, Songdo, Busan stands aloof as if hiding its charm under a veil of mystery. You can relax at ease and lay your back in this beach while enjoying the sights and sounds of surrounding lush green thick pine grove, rocky cliffs, freights and ships passing by and noisy seagulls hovering in the sky.
After sunset, Songdo, Busan offers a magnificent view of the multicolored night lights of Nampo-dong and the Jagalchi Seafood Market shimmering and reflecting in the water.
The local cafes and restaurants are the ideal place to chill out. Songnim Park and Songdo Drive Course situated in the same area are worth visiting.
