Gadeokdo Island Busan

South Korea - Daegu - Incheon - Jeju - Seoul - Daejeon
Among the twelve islands near the port city of Busan, Gadeokdo is well know for being the largest one. The island is lying on the western part of the wide delta of Nakdonggang River. Other eleven islands encircling this island are still uninhabited. Here in this island tourists can enjoy the fantastic beauty of seashore, sweeping waves and the amazing rock formations in distinctive shapes lying along the coastline.
According to a popular legend this Gadeokdo Island, Busan is thought to be the part of a mountain in Gimahe that sunk into the sea and then rose again. Previously the island belonged to Cheonga-myeon, Changweon-gun region. In January 1989 the island became a part of Gangseo-gu, Busan.

The southern part of the island is covered with thick wood. An east-facing cliff top of this part is particularly notable for myriads of camellia trees forming a dense forest. Some of these trees are even more than 150 years old. The lush green camellia grove combined with the magnificent seascape presents a magnificent view for tourists. Visitors can look down from the hilltop at the mammoth construction project undertaken to build Busan
New Port and GeoGa Bridge.

Gadeokdo Island, Busan is a famous fishing spot providing anglers ample opportunity to catch gray mullets, codfishes and herrings.
