The fast growing city of Daegu has developed in every field. From lifestyle to tourism, from standard of living to transportation; much has changed in the recent past. The city has come up fast as a centre for tourism in the country with its beautiful landscapes and the natural beauty. It is the beauty of the place which has attracted the tourists from all corners of the world. Off late Daegu has also developed as a business hub of South Korea with lot of development in the industrial sector. The face of the city is regarded as the beautiful temples, the free flowing rivers along with its tributaries and distributaries, the resorts and the Daegu Subway. Truly, the Daegu subway has played a pivotal role in the development of the transportation in the city to a large scale. The advanced technology used in the underground railway system ahs made traveling in the city an easy job to handle. The Daegu subway covers almost every important points of the city. There are two different lines operating in the city; Subway line No. 1 and the Subway line No. 2. The Subway line No. 1 started its operation from November 26, 1997 connecting the areas between Jincheon to Jungangno. Thereafter the section from Jungnangno to Ansim became functional on May 2, 1998. the network soon spread to the west end of the city extending its service from Jincheon to Daegok and reaching the present length on May 10, 2002. The famed Daegu Subway became non-functional in the years 2003 fro several months for a subway fire. The Daegu Subway is maintained by the Daegu Metropolitan Subway Corporation. The corporation takes care of both the lines making transportation in Daegu a comfortable affair. Currently about 332 trains run on a daily basis during the weekdays and the count goes down marginally to 306 times over the weekends. The incredibly fast service takes around 50 minutes and 30 seconds to cover the entire distance of the city ends.
