Comfortably located in Nokdong-seowon the Nokdongseowon Confucian Academy, Daegu was set up in 1789 in honor of King Mohadang Kim Chung-seon. Mohadang Kim Chung-seon contributed greatly in defending Korea in 1592. According to General Kim humanity was the greatest state ideology.
The Nokdongseowon Confucian Academy, Daegu was destroyed by Regent Daewongun (King Gojong’s father) at the end of the 19th century and was reinstated in 1914. On the premises of the Nokdongseowon Confucian Academy, Daegu one can find a lecture hall, Nokdongsa Shrine, and Hyangyangmun Gate (sun facing gate) built by Confucians in this region in 1789 .
