Daejeon boasts to be the fifth largest city among South Korea's six major cities, including Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, and Gwangju. Covering an area of 539.83 square kilometers, the city is home to a population of 1,438,778. The city constitutes of five major boroughs of Yuseong-gu, Dong-gu, Seo-gu, Daedeok-gu and Jung-gu. The city is a converging point of two major expressways, Gyeongbu highway and Honam highway and two major railheads Gyeongbu railway and Honam railway. The high-speed railway system, known as KTX, takes around fifty minutes to travel between Daejeon and Seoul. The major airport of the city is Cheongju Airport, a thirty-minute drive north of Daejeon.
