Daejeon is the home to a number of natural and man-made scenic sights. Mt. Usanbong in Daejeon is a mountain range that begins with Cheonhwang Peak of Gyeryongsan and surrounds around Baekunbong and Dodeokbong. The Mt.Usanbong in Daejeon joins the lower Gaphasan and sharply rises up right in front of the Geumgang (river). The soaring tail of the range is Mt.Usanbong .
Mt.Usanbong in Daejeon has derived its name from the term, “Usan” meaning an umbrella. This name has two origins: The first was that there was a heavy flood, and the portion of the mountain above water looked exactly like an umbrella. The second origin comes from the fact that the peak has an umbrella-like shape which covers the hills around it. Mt.Usanbong in Daejeon comprises of beautiful forests and hills where you can enjoy a pleasant walk among the pine trees, azaleas, and rhododendron in the spring. You can take no. 104 or 150 to Ansan-dong every eight minutes, or bus no. 120 or 121 to Gapdong every 40 minutes.
