Basketball is a team game of 5 players each trying to score points by throwing a ball through the hoop of the other team under some fixed rules. Varoiuos techniques like dribbling, passing in between teammates, jumping and reaching the basket to net the ball.
Any physical contact is an obstruction and is, therefore, a foul. There are also regulations for handling the ball. Any violation is considered an offence and therefore penalized. Basketball was originally played with a football but in the late 1950’s Tony Hinkle introduced the orange ball that is being used today.
The Basketball League, christened as Korean Basketball League started in 1997. Ten professional teams from all across Korea participate every year for supremacy. Seoul Samsung Thunders, Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, Anyang KT&G Kites, Seoul SK Knights, Changwon LG Sakers, Daegu Orions, Inchon ET Land Blackslamer, Jeomju KCC Egis, Busan KTF Magicwings, Wonju Dongbu Promy are the Clubs that participate in the National Basketball League that enthralls the crowd who hails their respective team to win the competition.
The National Team consists of players who perform consistently well in the competition.
They are only next to China who is the most dominating force. The Koreans have started it taking very seriously and the clubs have started to import players from other countries to raise their standard. And improve their game.
