Incheon possesses a picturesque coastline which has gifted the region with some of the best beaches and islands in the country. Tourism therefore has flourished in the city, offering its tourists a host of attractions to delve in. the region around Incheon is dotted with exotic locales like Weolmido. This island is in fact, a key attraction to the tourists here. The 'Street of Culture,' in the island is a fascinating zone which remains ever thronged with tourists from the locality and abroad. The Yeonan Wharf, a bustling harbor holds numerous passenger and fishing vehicles, and is another attraction to the tourists in the city. Another bonus to the tourists in Incheon is its fresh seafood. The stalls lining the city serve delightful preparations of fish and seafood, drawing the tourists for an authentic meal.
The rich history of Incheon dates back to the 18th century BC, adding a quaint touch to the city. The remnants of its glorious past now stand as major tourists attractions, contributing to the city’s tourism.
The temperate climate of Incheon is another factor contributing to its growth in tourism. Proximity to the sea has given the city a mild climate all round the year, making it favorable for the tourists to savor its attractions any time. Summer is however the busiest tourist season, as the weather is then perfect and pleasant. Winter sees a comparatively less flow of tourists as the city is colder than other parts of Korea.
Tourism is today a major industry in the city. As an important commercial centre of South Korea, Incheon boasts of a flourishing industrial scenario, a major portion of which constitutes of tourism. To facilitate tourism in the city, the Incheon Metropolitan City had set up the Incheon Tourism Organization in February 2006. The organization seeks to encourage tourism in Incheon and has been taking steps to make the city a hub of tourist activities.
