At the west end of Ganghwon-do, we can find the beautiful sea-sarrounded Seokmodo Island, Incheon. Tourists here love going on a long drive by the seashore feasting their eyes upon the scenic views of the island.

A ten minutes ferry-ride from Oepo-ri and you are there. The seagulls gathering around the sea provide a wonderful sight. Seokmodo Island, Incheon can be seen around on a bicycle, on a car, or walking along the road can also be a memorable experience.

The most interesting places to visit on Seokmodo Island, Incheon are the Minmeoru Beach and the Bomunsa Temple.

The only beach, the Minmeoru Beach of Seokmodo Island, Incheon has exquisite shores and magnificent views down the horizon.

From the Bomunsa Temple a great view of the West Sea and the island can be seen. Other famous sites lying behind Bomunsa Temple are the Nunseop Rock and the Ma-aeseokbuljwa statue. This temple was built by Queen Seondok, the 27th queen of the Silla Dynasty, in the fourth year of her reign (635 A.D.). It is among the three most famous temples in Korea.

Seokmodo Island, Incheon is a cozy little island located in the West Sea of Ganghwado Island. The 316-meter-high Mt. Nakkasan, rising up at the center of the island, provides a unforgettable view of the ocean below.

Reaching Seokmodo Island, Incheon is also quite an easy process. There is a direct bus operating from Ganghwa to Oepo-ri which takes hardly 20 minutes. A ferry from oepo-ri takes you direct to your destination, Seokmodo in 10 minutes. Local buses also operate from Seokmo-ri to Bomunsa Temple. Outlined by a lovely green forest, the Yellow Sea offers a great sight. In the cuisine area, Seokmodo specialties such as sushi, crab stew and shrimp dishes are top-favourites. Herring sushi, clam soup, steamed shrimp, octopus, sea squirt, turbot and various kinds of seasoned sea plants form the most-preferred side-dishes.

A calm sea with a fascinating horizon as in Seokmodo Island, Incheon is obviously a place that will attract a tourist’s attention…a place that is forever the first-choice to spend a cozy weekend.
