The Goryeo Palace, Incheon was the place of several kings during the Goryeo period (918 - 1392). They used to reside here during their tenacious 39-year resistance against the Mongol invaders.

It was in June 1232 that King Hojong moved his capital to the rugged Ganghwado Island. The Goryeo Palace, Incheon and the government office was established in 1234. In 1270, the King returned to the capital, Gaeseong. The palace and Ganghwa Fortress were deserted at this time. During the Joseon period (1392 - 1910) a detached palace was used here. Again, the palace fell to Manchu invaders in 1637.

Today, only the main office building (Dongheon) and the general affairs building (Ibang-jeong) remains. The area has been designated as a Historic Site.

The main office for Ganghwa Magistrate Kim Shin-guk was built in the year 1638 during the reign of King Injo. In 1769, magistrate Hwang Gyeong-won named it Hyeonyun-gwan.

This building of Goryeo Palace, Incheon was renovated in 1977. It soon got designated as a Tangible Cultural Property.The admission fee inside the Goryeo Palace, Incheon differs for different persons.
