Hallim Park Jeju

South Korea - Daegu - Incheon - Jeju - Seoul - Daejeon
Located 33 kilometers away from the western part of the Jeju-si, Hallim Park is the most exotic tourist site in Jeju Island. A dense forest of pine and palm trees encircles this famous park in Jeju. Established in the year 1971, Hallim Park sprawls over a huge area of 100 thousand square meters.
This famous park in Jeju has been the contribution of a native called Song Bong-gyu. In the year 1971, he purchased a desolate piece of land standing between the coastal villages of Hallim and Hyeopjae. He then transferred truckloads of soil to make the land more fertile and planted palm tree seeds. For the next 10 years he took utmost care to let them grow to their fullest. This resulted in the creation of well-known Hallim Park in Jeju.

The Hallim Park classifies the plants within it into 16 different sectors not excluding the fascinating Tropical Botanical Garden, Foliage Plant Garden, Washingtonia Palm Garden, Palm Tree Garden and the Kiwi Fruit Garden.

The two most popular lava caves in the Hallim Park are Hyeopjaegul and Ssangyonggul. Ssangyonggul cave is considered to be the sole two-dimensional cave in the world. Several stalagmites and stalactites within the Hyeopjaegul cave distinguish it from all other lava tubes.

The park’s other attractions include a unique folk village, amusement park designed for kids and top-class outdoor resort facilities.

The spectacular Palm Tree Road lies in between the Bird Garden and the Sub Tropical Botanical Garden of the Hallim Park.
The park is home to around 200 varieties of flower species. The Bird Garden houses Mandarin ducks, pheasants, peacocks, and ostriches.
