Jeju Stone Garden is all about stones – stones in geography and geology, stones in history, stones in religion, stones in art, stones in sculpture, stones in houses – basically the presence and importance of stones in every sphere of life of the islanders of Jeju.

The permanent exhibition area of the Jeju Stone Garden exhibits the formation of Jeju and the geographical features of Jeju. The Stone Gallery in the Jeju Stone Garden houses a collection of some of the rarest volcanic rocks, which were a part of the formation process of Jeju. The Stone Culture Exhibiton Hall explains the significance of stones in the culture of Jeju. The stone cultures of the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties of Jeju are also displayed in the exhibits of the outdoor exhibition of the Jeju Stone Garden. Another very important part of the Jeju Stone Garden is the replica of the conventional thatched houses in which the ancestors of the islanders used to live long time back. The communication amenities of the people of Jeju in those times are also displayed, like a beacon, signal pole and lighthouse.

This stone extravaganza that the visitors get to see in the Jeju Stone Garden remains open in the winter months, November to February and in the summer months, from March to October. During the summer the Jeju Stone Garden opens at 9 in the morning and closes at 5 in the evening. During the winter months the Jeju Stone Garden opens at 9 in the morning and closes at 7 in the evening.

The admission fee for getting inside the Jeju Stone Garden for the adults is 5,000 KRW and if they are in a group, the cost lessens down to 4,000 KRW. The Teenagers and soldiers have to pay 3,500 KRW. If they are with a group then they have to pay only 2,800 KRW. For the children above the age of 7 and below the age of 12 have to pay 2,500 KRW, and in group their tickets cost 2,000 KRW.

Save the best for the last! If you have not bought any arts and artifacts till now then you can try choosing some form the Jeju Stone Garden shop. There is a very good collection of Jeju Galots, earthenware, necklace, Jars, stone necklace, mobile phone ring and stone hat.

You can reach the Jeju Stone Garden by car or by availing the public transportation facilities. You have to take the intercity or the intra-city buses and get down at the bus stop named Jeju Stone Culture Park.
