Mok Seok Won is one of the most popular gardens in Jeju Island. Mok Seok Won has a rich collection of a thousand artistic wood works, five thousand intricate stone works representing images of human heads and hundred more artworks in stone. The wood works are carved out of the roots of Jorok namu, a special variety of plant grown in subtropical forest regions in Halla-san. All the stones and trees kept within the Mok Seok Won have their own stories. Once you are inside the Mok Seok Won, you can experience the intensity and spirit of the natives in Jeju. In 1977 this famous garden was specified as a Protected area in Jeju Island. The stone towers standing within the garden depict the appearance of legendary grandmother of Cheju, called Solmundae Grandmother along with her 500 kids.
