On your visit to the Daepo Seashore, Jeju you will get to see some of the very unusual rock formations. The entire area around the sea shore is made up of perpendicular black rocks, rising form the ground in various shapes and sizes. Most of them are shaped like hexagonal crystals.

To witness this strange geographical phenomenon in Daepo Seashore, Jeju, you have to travel for 20 minutes by taking a bus form the Seogwipo terminal in Jungman Port. You have to get down at Jungman exit. Form there the seashore is at a walking distance, which you can cover in 15 minutes. If you take the dirt trail form the parking lot of the seashore, you will be able to go to the cliffs.

You won’t be having any problem in getting down or climbing up the cliffs because of the presence of stairs. No, they are not man made; they have been created by nature, by erosion of the seashore rocks. Due to the presence of these formations this area was previously known as the Chisatgae Haean meaning, “Altar to the Gods”. Services were held and dedicated to the Gods in the early times.

The rate of the tickets for admission to the Daepo Seashore, Jeju vary according to the age. For the adults the tickets cost 2,000 won and 1,600 won if they are in a group. Fro the youths and children the tickets cost 1,000 won and 600 won if they are in a group.
