This beautiful Jeju Folk Village of Jeju is the result of hard work of the islanders who have been able to overcome the island's harsh conditions. Infertile soil of volcanic ash, strong sea winds, and severe droughts had made this place a living hell. But the people know how to fight with every odd so as to make this place a land where they can build homes and live in peace. There are communities residing in Jeju Folk Village. They have their own unique culture, which exhibits a rich heritage. Documenting a range of historical periods, Jeju Folk Village sprawls over an area of 150,000 square meters. The buildings are constructed in such a way so that it retains the original atmosphere of the village. Few of the cottages, relocated to this village, are even more than three hundred years old, which still maintains its original form even today. The topography of Jeju Folk Village can be divided into three types: coastal land, plain land, and hilly regions. A number of folk crafts are available here in the Jeju Folk Village. One of the main attractions of the Jeju Folk Village is Jeju Folk Village Museum. Mountain Village, Hill-Country Village, Fishing Village, and Shamanism Village scenes have been restored here. The museum displays various folk items like: 1,627 woodenware, 1,046 bamboo ware, 1,699 earthenware, 1,544 porcelain ware, 765 wax candles, 921 ironware, and 579 of others artifacts. Daeganggeum Mini Theme Park of the Jeju Folk Village displays a large number of tourists’ attractions. You can reach Jeju Folk Village by taking the flight to Jeju International Airport. From the airport you would get local transport to the Jeju Inter-city Bus Terminal. Regular buses could be plied from here that will take you to the Jeju Folk Village. It takes a little more than an hour to reach Jeju Folk Village by bus from the bus terminal.
