Fly to the Jeju airport; take a bus from there to the Jeju Inter-city Bus Terminal; from there board a bus that will take you to Daejeong or Hwasun-ri; a local bus from here to Poseong-ri; and you are at Residence of Kim, Jeju. Kim, a major government official of the Chosun Dynasty, got involved in a political plot in 1840. Due to this involvement he was banished to the Jeju Island. He was made to live in a house that belonged to Kang, To-san. He stayed there for eight years, until he was pardoned by the king. This house is maintained as a memorial of Residence of Kim, Jeju. Kim being a leading calligrapher and scholar gave classes on Confucian classics and art while on his stay in the Residence of Kim, Jeju. Several different writing styles combined together to form his writing style. It was named as Ch'usa style after his pen name. Calligraphy and painting were the main form of art works he practices here while on his stay. The museum remains open for public viewing from 9 am to 6 pm during springs and summers and 9 am to 5 pm in winter. You would get private cars on hire to reach the Residence of Kim, Jeju. This magnificent place holds the remnants of the utensils used by Kim.
