Samseonghyeol, Jeju is one of the most famous sightseeing in the island of Jeju. The local story of Samseonghyeol, Jeju says that three progenitors, Ko-ulla, Yang-ulla, and Pu-ulla, emerged from three holes in the ground at Samseonghyeol, Jeju. These three caves were known as were called ohonghyol. They lived in Samseonghyeol, Jeju wearing leather clothes and survived by hunting and eating meats. One day the found a messenger in purple clothes and a red belt wooden box floating on the sea, sealed with purple clay. Ko-ulla, Yang-ulla, and Pu-ulla later married these three beautiful women. During the reign of King Chungjong, in 1526, constructed a crimson gate and a wall around the caves and started offering spring and autumn memorial services. Samseonghyeol, Jeju opens for public viewing throughout the year. During the summer Samseonghyeol, Jeju remains open from 8 am to 7 pm and in winter the timings are from 8 am to 6 pm. every April, October, and December a sacrificial ceremony is held in the in the remembrance of the three gods. Prayers are offered to wish the well-being of Jeju people. Take a local city bus from the bus terminus.
