Mt Hallasan, standing in the heart of the Jeju Island, is the highest mountain
in South Korea. This dormant volcano is popularly known as Mt.Yeongjusan, which

in this nature reserve Felis bengalensis manchuria and Capreolus capreolus pygargus
are worth mentioning.
Mt. Hallasan Nature Reserve dates back to the Paleolithic period. This historic
Pillemot Cave offers enough to explore due to the presence of archaeological
remains obtained from the site. The Archaeological evidence found within the
Mt. Hallasan National Park indicates the existence of human beings in Jeju Island
during the Paleolithic period. Besides its wide variety of plants and animals,
the National Park also offers a 10 km long course to climb up the Mt. Hallasan.
