Seoul Arts Center, Seoul is the first Art complex center which is exclusively dedicated to cultural and artistic themes. The Seoul Arts Center, Soul was proposed in 1982 and finished in February 1993, is truly a complete cultural complex. The Music Hall and Calligraphy Hall were opened in 1988 for the Seoul Olympics. Two years later, the Art Gallery and Arts Library came into being. The Seoul Arts Center also nurtures the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts. The main architect chosen to design the structure was Kim Seokcheol. Costing around two billion US dollars, the centre took almost nine years to get completed. A non-profit organization operating on government subsidy, the Seoul Arts Center, Seoul, offers a vast range of cultural events, performances, and exhibitions, varying from music to dance to movies. The Center faithfully devoted to experimental initiatives and original performances & exhibitions. The complex consists of five buildings, each of which matches the unique characteristics of its respective types. - Opera House-It is marked by a traditional top-hat-shaped roof and a lower section which resembles a human sitting with his legs crossed. It is the first and only Opera House in Asia. - Music House- The first exclusive Music House of the nation stands in the shape of a traditional fan with thatched-roof-style top. Assuring people of its architectural charm, it efficiently conveys that music is the water of the life's sea. - Hangaram Art Museum-It is an exclusive art exhibition hall covering over 15434.1m2. It is a place for all kinds of formative art with an inclination on modern fine arts. The gallery is constituted of five exhibition halls - Seoul Calligraphy Art Museum-It is an object of immense admiration to countries like China and Japan. It is a centre for calligraphic culture. Four practice rooms, one lecture hall and one seminar room are part of the educational facilities - Arts Library (Design Museum)-It is a culture and art information center of the Seoul Arts Center, Seoul. Open to everyone, it is the perfect place of creative information for amateur art lovers and for art professionals. There is an outdoor theater in the shape of a half-moon where many performances are held. The Seoul Arts Center, Seoul goes on to expand its exchange with other culture and art centers around the world thus going one step ahead each time to emerge as the leader in the global cultural arena.
