Seoul is a land that is proud of its cultural heritage, and rich tradition, which it has held on in many aspects, though it has also moved forward and become modernized with the progressive times. Of the many amazing things on offer, is a museum and gallery, called the National Folk Museum, Seoul. The National Folk Museum, Seoul is situated on the grounds of the Gyeongbokgung (Gyeongbok Palace) in Seoul, South Korea. Originally housing the National Museum of Korea until 1986, the building came to be remodeled, and reopened as the National Folk Museum in 1993. The museum is operated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and is dedicated to the study, collection, and preservation of folk artifacts, and is devoted to the history of Korean traditional life. There are three exhibition halls in the National Folk Museum, Seoul, which demonstrate 'The History of the Korean People' from pre-historic times to the end of the Joseon Dynasty in 1910, 'The Lifestyle of the Korean People', and 'The Lifecycle of a Korean from Birth to Death'. There are housed in the National Folk Museum, Seoul over 25,088 artifacts, including actual relics, replicas of historical objects, and paintings that show different facets of traditional life in Korean from pre-historic times to the present day. There is also a children's museum, and an outdoor exhibition. A museum that not only displays amazing things, but takes people on a journey into the past, and lets one experience the folk tradition of the country, the National Folk Museum, Seoul should be on the to-do list of every tourist coming to Seoul.
