This market is jointly operated by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Sprawled over to over 66,000 square meter area, this fish market contains more than 700 shops. The shops sell all kinds of fresh marine fishes including squid and dry fish. The huge supply of fresh fishes comes from fifteen sea ports in Korea.

The fish market mainly sells fish items on wholesale. This market remains open twenty four hours a day. An entire floor is devoted to auctioning of fish which remains especially crowded in the wee hours of the morning. The auction starts from 1 at night and continues till 6 in the evening. However fishes are sold to retail buyers too. The retail sales at Seoul's Noryangjin Fish Market start from 3 in the morning and continue till 9 at night. The retailers work all seven days a week but the wholesale market remains closed on every Sunday and during public holidays.

Noryangjin Fish Market is Seoul does not only sell raw fishes. The market houses more than a dozen restaurants that expectedly serve some of the best sea foods in South Korea. Housing an agricultural section, this market sells all kinds of vegetables too.
