One of the most popular destinations among the tourists is the Cheonggwonsa Shrine, Seoul.

The Cheonggwonsa Shrine, Seoul is a royal shrine and the tombs of Royal Prince Hyoryong (1396-1486) and his wife, princess Jeong (1394-1470), to enshrine the ancestral tablets for the kings of the Chosun Dynasty. Designated as a Local Tangible Cultural Property #12 in 1972, by the Seoul metropolitan government, it is one of the most precious cultural monuments of Korea.

The Cheonggwonsa Shrine, Seoul was constructed below the tombs by the 21st King of the Chosun Dynasty, Yeongjo the Great, who named it Cheonggwonsa. In 1789, the 22nd King of the Chosun Dynasty, Cheongjo the great was created the tablet with Cheonggwonsa written. Cheonggwon means   -  virtuous conduct  -   and   -  Cheonggwonsa  -   is the term, which came from a Chinese sentence by Kongja, describing the virtues of Ilmin-woojoong of the Chinese Chu dynasty.

In 1902, a monument tombstone for Shindobi was built near the Cheonggwonsa Shrine, Seoul. To mark out the shrine and the tombs as the protected area of a cultural property, a magnificent wall was erected around the grace yard in 1986. This site comprises the shrine, tombs, monument house, preparatory house for ancestor worship, and annexes. To pay tribute to the virtuous conduct of Royal Prince Hyoryong, the road in front of the shrine was named Hyoryong-ro in 1985. Cheonggwonsa Company that is composed of the descendants of Royal Prince Hyoryong supervises the cultural properties of the Cheonggwonsa Shrine, Seoul.
