History of the Korea House, Seoul- During the Joseon Dynasty the area housing Korea House, Seoul was referred to as Cheonghak-dong Seonbi-chon ('Confucian Scholar's Village in the Blue Crane District'). Constructed in traditional Joseon architectural style, Korea House, Seoul comprises of a number of buildings which are as follows-

  -   Soseul Daemun ('lofty main gate'),
  -   Anchae ('women's quarters'),
  -   Aarangchae ('men's quarters'),
  -   Haengnangchae ('servants' quarters'),
  -   Byeol-dang ('annex building').

Each building has also been given a beautiful poetic name which is as follows-

  -   Haerin-gwan ('house for overseas friends'),
  -   Sohwa-dang ('house of beauty and brillance'),
  -   Hwanbyeong-nu (tower pavilion of blue ring), Garak-dang ('pavillion of beauty and music'),
  -   Munhyang-nu ('tower pavilion of fragrance),
  -   Nogeum-jeong ('green pavilion for singing') and
  -   Cheongu-jeong (pavilion for listening to the sounds of rain.)

Korea House, Seoul provides a traditional meal accompanied by diverse folk performances. Visitors to the Korea House, Seoul also have the opportunity to explore the garden, view handicraft items, and watch a traditional wedding ceremony. Korea House, Seoul also has got a small gift shop which stores cultural items, souvenirs and postcards for sale. The Korea House, Seoul is adorned with traditional Korean wooden furniture, handicraft works, and landscape paintings.
