Seoul, a wonderful tourist destination has many different types of attractions that draw people from all over the globe. One of the most famous sports in Seoul is "Taekwondo", and a very famous destination, related to this sport, which attracts many people, is the Kukkiwon, Seoul.

Kukkiwon, Seoul, also known as the World Taekwondo Headquarters, was established on November 30, 1972, to serve as the world headquarters for the sport of taekwondo, which originated in Korea. Kukkiwon, Seoul was set up to spread taekwondo to the world, and make it known globally. It houses Taekwondo related organizations, and has a gymnasium that can hold up to 3, 000 people. The Gymnasium at the Kukkiwon, Seoul, is meant to provide Taekwondo practitioners and contestants with modern facilities for the training and competitions of Taekwondo.

The Kukkiwon, Seoul serves as the issuing body for Taekwondo Dan, or 'black belt degrees' promotion and certification. In addition, it is home to the World Taekwondo Academy which trains and certifies Taekwondo instructors by the leadership course that it conducts. The World Taekwondo Academy, at Kukkiwon, Seoul administers Dan promotion tests and issues black belt Dan certificates to Taekwondo practitioners through its national associations of the WTF.

The Kukkiwon, Seoul also holds various national and international events, as well as Instructor Seminars and various Taekwondo demonstrations. Further, it is concerned with the technical development and researches related to, and regarding Taekwondo, as well as the collection of related materials, public relations and publications, and training of coaches and students. Kukkiwon, Seoul also conducts training courses for foreigners as well as exhibition games for foreign guests.

The Kukkiwon, Seoul, made available the ultimate arena for training and competitions. Some competitions that were held here at the Kukkiwon, Seoul were -

  -   1st International Referee Seminars
