The shops sell all kinds of fresh marine fishes including squid and dry fish. The huge supply of fresh fishes comes from fifteen sea ports in Korea.
The fish market mainly sells fish items on wholesale. This market remains open twenty four hours a day. An entire floor is devoted to auctioning of fish which remains especially crowded in the wee hours of the morning. The auction starts from 1 at night and continues till 6 in the evening. However fishes are sold to retail buyers too. The retail sales at Seoul's Noryangjin Fish Market start from 3 in the morning and continue till 9 at night. The retailers work all seven days a week but the wholesale market remains closed on every Sunday and during public holidays.
