Istanbul Restaurant

South Korea - Daegu - Incheon - Jeju - Seoul - Daejeon
Istanbul Restaurant, Seoul
Phone: (02) 744 - 9790
Average Meal Price: W5, 000
Nearest Subway Station: Noksapyeong Station

Istanbul Restaurant is situated a little down the road and opposite Noksapyeong Exit 2. It was a small kebab house until recently when it got a new look. It is now a chic, upscale, Turkish-inspired restaurant. When you enter, dim candles fringe the doorway and tables. Beautiful pine wood tables are splashed with colorful ceramic details while a silver gauze drape is hung over a turquoise blue tiled water feature, helping create a frenetic, mysterious ambiance not unlike the city the restaurant name hails from. Exotic and intriguing, the new design embraces guests.

The menu has also changed to more upscale dishes and prices. Being a Turkish themed restaurant, the main draw is the Kebabs and with a 'Fries, Soda, and Kebab'. You can also get the lamb kebab skewer with rice and also a chicken guvec. The lamb kebab was part of the new menu and priced at 16,000 won. The guvec part of the old menu was still priced at 9,000 won.

The guvec is a fiery, tomato based stew, bursting with flavor, and coated with stringy, melted cheese. It comes with the same fresh, chewy, homemade Turkish bread to mop up the sauce which is freshly baked and mouthwatering. Wine is served by the glass at a reasonable 5,000 won for a large one.

The food service is quick, and within five minutes you will have your meal in front of you. This is clearly a popular local eatery. Numerous customers step in to collect decent takeaways for the night's evening dinner. What's more, if conversation is flowing, beer is on draft and the atmosphere is comfortable to stay for a few drinks more.

To reach Istanbul Restaurant, from Noksapyeong Station take Exit 2 and walk down the hill, until there is an underpass. Cross over and you will be in front of the restaurant.
