Haenggung Palace is a major place of interest in South Korea. The Hwaseong Fortress
was built by King Jeongjo of the Joseon dynasty. The Korean government declared
the fortress as historical site No.3. It was recognized as a world heritage site
by the UNESCO in December, 1997. The construction work started in 1794 in January
and was finally completed in the year 1796. The fortress has four massive gates
of Paldalmun, Janganmun, Hwaseomun and Changnyongmun in four directions. This
impressive fortress comprises of the Hwaseong Haenggung Palace. Hwaseong Haenggung

The fortress can be reached from Suwon station (Seoul Subway Line 1). Regular
city buses can be availed of to reach Jongno 4-geori (intersection). It is a
five minutes walk from here. The place is easily accessible from Suseo subway
station,Chamsil subway station, Seokchon subway station, Garak market, paldal-mun,
Jangan-mun, Hanil town, Pajang-dong, Yangjae subway station and Kangnam subway
station.
