Hallyeohaesang National Park in South Korea

Much of the National Parks in South Korea are specially preserved lands. 6.6% of the country's total area is claimed by the National Parks. The Parks are either located in the mountains or along the coasts. The Korea National Parks Authority is entitled to look after the parks. The Hallyeohaesang National Park is a maritime park and located along the coast. The National Park came officially into existence in 1968. The Hallyeohaesang National Park comprises of parts of the coast of Namhaedo and Geojedo Island located on the southern coast.

The Hallyeohaesang National Park is simply unparallel to any other national park in South Korea. Nothing can match up to the beauty of its wide collection of flora and fauna.

Features of Hallyeohaesang National Park in South Korea

  -   The Hallyeohaesang National Park is primarily famous for Odongdo Island. The island is full of plants of sub tropical origin and lovely camellias. The view of the sunrise and the sunset from the Bijindo Island is simply bewitching. The Bijindo Island is specially noted for its native plant Palsonyi Tree.

  -   Another island of the Hallyeohaesang National Park called Hansan Island is particularly famous for a historical event. This island was the spot which witnessed the victory of General Lee Sun Shin.

  -   The Hallyeohaesang National Park has a beautiful stretch of seashore which adds to the grandeur of the national park. The soft sands, the blue waters fulfill the ideal geographical requirements of the National park.

  -   The numerous islands within the Hallyeohaesang National Park are the appropriate natural homes to many animals and birds. Here they can enjoy perfect freedom without being disturbed by human development.
