Barcelona Metro was established in 1924 when ‘Gran Metro’ between Lesseps and Placa de Catalunya which today is a part of line 3 was constructed. Barcelona Metro Service comprises of the mass volume of public transport system of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is a voluminous network of electrified railways and run underground in central Barcelona and on the road surface into the suburbia of the city.

FMB forms part of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) that manages the major underground lines. All are determined by individual colors, making it easy to identify. The network is 104.8 km long and consists of 143 stations. The traffic congestion on the roads of Barcelona has essentially enhanced the service of metros in the city today. Metros run in the city from Monday to Thursday and Sundays from 05am to 12 in the morning and on Holidays, Friday and Saturday, they start at 05am and continue till 02. The service is highly efficient in nature as is very fast as well as reliable and the trains primarily pass in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
The Metropolitan Region of Barcelona is distinguished into six fare zones as per the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM), which is the public entity that modulates and regulates the public conveyance system in Barcelona. Fares are reasonable and the ticket which offers the best value for money is the T-10 ticket as it is named. This provides the facility for 10 rides in zone 1, which essentially covers the whole of the city center.
