Parks and Gardens in Barcelona
Spain - Barcelona - Seville - Valencia - Madrid
The parks and gardens in Barcelona attract many visitors. One of the most popular and widely recognized parks in the city is the Parc de la Ciutadella. Parc de la Ciutadella is located at the site, which was formerly the military fortress of Felipe V. It is a beautiful park away from the hustles and bustles of the city traffic. It was in the year 1870 that the citadel was transformed into a park and prepared to host the 1888 World Fair. Tourists can stroll around the park to see the small lake lying in the center of Parc de la Ciutadella. Beside the lake, there is fountain Cascada. It was built by Josep Fontsere and Antoni Gaudí. The Catalan parliament building and the city zoo are also near the park.
Another popular among the parks and gardens in Barcelona is the Parc del Laberint
d'Horta. This park was created during the 18th century by Italian Dominico Bagutti.
The vast array of flowers and plants bewilder the tourists with their fragrance,
as one loses his way amid the labyrinths.
