Olympic Barcelona
Spain - Barcelona - Seville - Valencia - Madrid
The two towers are the Hotel Arts and the Mapfre Tower. The former is designed by architects Bruce Graham and Frank O. Gehry while the later is designed by none other than Iñigo Ortiz and Enrique de León. An enormous fountain in the Plaça dels Voluntaris is truly a feast to the eyes. Likewise you will certainly come across many such works of art at the Olympic Village.
When you go past the Park of the Olympic Harbour, you come to Carrer de Rosa Sensat. This place boasts a host of buildings that have received FAD prizes for their architectural brilliance.
And at Carrer de Salvador Espriu, you will find one of the finest fountains. From fountain to a small canal in Parc dels Ponts to the large sculpture Tallavents, everything is spectacular here. Plaça dels Campions also showcases a list of the 257 gold medals pulled ahead in the 1992 Olympic Games.
The Olympic Harbour is an architectural magnum opus, thanks to architects in the likes of Oriol Bohigas, Josep Martorell, David Mackay and Albert Puigdomènech and the engineer Joan Ramon de Clascà. This place is jam packed some of the best restaurants and all that to egg on the nightlife. Next comes, the Olympic Ring, which was revamped in contemporary style due to the 1992 Olympic Games. And the key element of this place is none other than El Palau Sant Jordi. It can hold a whole gamut of sport events and not to mention concerts or ballet performances. The Olympic Stadium of Montjuïc is something that is worth a mention. It can accommodate as many as 55,000 spectators or even more.
Olympic Barcelona, Barcelona is one place that deserves to be explored.
