HISTORY OF FLAMENCO:
Gypsies of Andalusia have their own traditional song and dance form called Flamenco. It is an important form of music and dance in Spain. Its roots can be traced back to many years. It is believed to have originated from the Gypsy, Moorish, Andalucian and other roots. Flamenco is influenced by various regions such as North Africa, Southern Europe and the Eastern zone. There is a great argument regarding the development of Flamenco.
In the post Franco age there has been various reformations that Flamenco has gone through. Since then Flamenco has become even more popular in Spain as well as in other foreign countries. New Flamenco performers have given the art form a new dimension. In the present times Flamenco is appreciated by international audiences as well.
ART OF FLAMENCO:
Flamenco, the famous form of music and dance in Spain is extremely popular. Its basis is called Canto. Flamenco is classified into three sections such as,
1. Grande or Hondo
2. Intermedio
3. Pequeno
Grande or Hondo means intense and deep songs, while Intermedio indicates a some what deep song. Pequeno is considered to be a light song full of jovial flavor. Some elements of Indian dance form are believed to be still present in the baile grande.
SPANISH GUITAR:
In the year 1790, a sixth string was incorporated in the Moorish lute. This paved the path of the origination of the guitar. It was invented in Andalusia. It was in the year 1870, when the instrument got its modern shape. It was Andres Segovia who founded a new genre of classical guitar. The most famous Flamenco guitarist of international repute is Paco de Lucia. Guitar accompaniment became a common phenomenon to many genres in the nineteenth century.
There are some traveling agencies who offer tours to popular Flamenco shows in the Madrid and other locations. Again private tours can also be arranged for a particular tourist party. These private tours can be a bit more costly for the tourists but they ensure an exclusive and private viewing of the show.
