Declared to be one of the national monuments in the year 1923, the Iglesia De San Andres, Granada, is one of the most beautiful churches in the locality. It was built in the Romanesque style of architecture, which is understood by the interiors having very less decoration. The church is very simple to look at but it has an elegance, which easily surpasses any intricately decorated monument.

The Iglesia De San Andres, Granada is built on a very simple plan and only three naves. But the most attractive thing, which is sure to pull the eyes, is the central apse. The exterior of the apse has the appearance chess board checks. The monument is dedicated to St. Vincent and St. Peter.

Even though you don’t have to pay anything to enter this church you have to follow a certain time limit to visit the church - 1 May to 16 October, Monday-Saturday and public holidays, 10am-2pm and 4-6pm. For the other times of the year there are other timetables to be followed.

The Iglesia De San Andres, Granada was built in the 15th century. In the 18th century it was rebuilt. The church is considered to be the center of the brotherhood called Los Panaderos. It was an association of bakers, who were responsible for laying the foundation stones of the church. You will be able to see many valuable paintings in the church. Out of them the Aparición de la Virgen a San Bernardo, meaning appearance of Virgin Mary to Saint Bernard, is a painting which you can spend some time in gazing at. There are also other paintings by Alonso Vázquez and engravings by Gáspar Núñez Delgado.

The association of bakers in the Iglesia De San Andres, Granada is the guild of the church, which participates in Holy Week processions on Holy Wednesday.
