In 1819 the Museum was first opened to the public as a Royal Museum in 1819.

The Prado National Museum hosted an amazing collection of works from the Museum of La Trinidad and the main reason for the establishment of the museum was only to preserve the works of art which have all been almost destroyed by the destruction of the Monasteries. However the Villanueva building of the Prado is famous for hosting the most comprehensive collection of paintings collected from all over the world.

The museum also houses paintings by the famous artists and painters like Santa Cruz and Nicholas Frances and of course the famous El Graco and masterpieces by Goya. There are about almost 150 works by the noted painter and 450 of his drawings.

The museum also goes on to host the best works of Flemish Scholl and there are 70 pieces of his work and there are also 600 items from Italian painters. The museum also goes on to house some amazing pieces of glasses, tableware and jewelery.

All those wishing to visit the museum cannot tour the entire museum in one whole day and needs to take at least two days to visit the place.
