Sorolla Museum, Madrid

Sorolla Museum in Madrid is exclusively an Art gallery that was used to be the house and studio of the painter Joaquin Sorolla. Joaquin Sorolla's widow donated the house along with its collections of paintings to the government. The house, which has now been transformed into a museum, was constructed between 1910 and 1911. Though Sorolla was a little known impressionist painter of his times, today his paintings are greatly appreciated by the visitors. There are also other collections apart from the paintings such as furniture, ceramic ware, popular jewelry and also sculptures. Sorolla's only son had been the director of the museum until his death.

Most of the items in the museum had been collected by the painter during his lifetime. But the significant portion of the museum is occupied by the paintings of Sorolla.

Transportation: The public buses bearing the numbers 5, 14, 27, 40, 61 and 150 can access The Sorolla Museum in Madrid. You can also come by car as the Museum has adequate parking facilities.

Timings: The Museum remains open from 9.30am to 3.00pm Tuesday to Saturday. On Sundays and public holidays, the place is open from 10.00am onwards. It is closed on all Mondays.
