Seville Health and Safety

Spain - Barcelona - Seville - Valencia - Madrid
Health and Safety are the two things which should be your prime concern while you are holidaying in Seville. Seville presents very few problems for tourists, health threats are minimal and the risk of disease is no severe than in any well developed European city. The water is safe to drink and food hygiene standards in restaurants are high and closely supervised. If you fall ill for whatever reason while visiting Seville, you should either have proper travel insurance to cover medical costs or if you are an EU citizen, you can take advantage of the reciprocal agreements, all you need to do is to get the necessary documentation from your home country.

Seville is generally a safe city for tourists and you won’t feel threatened or afraid while walking the streets during the day or in the evening. However, the city is not without its share of crimes and undesirable activities. If you follow some basic courses of action, you won’t fall victim to these.

Your hotel's safe is a very important thing for you and you should take good care of it. Keep your extra cash, credit cards, jewelry and other important things in it. Do not leave valuable stuff lying around in your room or carry them around unnecessarily.

Men should avoid carrying their wallets in their back pockets. This makes them all the more easily lifted by pickpockets. Rather than carrying your passport around with you at all times, carry a photocopy of it and keep the original in your hotel's safe. Women should be careful not to leave bags and purses unattended while in restaurants and make sure that they have all of their bags when exiting a bus or taxi. You should be cautious of gypsy women offering lucky charms, they can make undue demand for money and a few coins may not please them.

If you follow these basic rules, you can be sure of your safety. Be sure to have the phone number of the local police and those of your bank and credit card companies in hand.
