Emergencies are the last thing you would like to come across to. But emergencies can happen unknowingly. Emergency numbers in Spain have to be dialed with 0044 followed by the town prefix. Emergency numbers in Spain can be dialed from the street telephones also known as ‘Telefonica’ huts or cabins operated with Euro coins from 5 cents onwards. Spanish emergency services do not speak English, its better if you can find an interpreter or translator. To call from abroad, prefix +34, the Spanish International Dialing code. Emergency numbers can only be called locally. Mobile telephones work properly but it can be expensive to call home from mobiles. Roaming facility needs to be activated enabling usage abroad.
