Iglesia de los Santos Juanes Valencia
Spain - Barcelona - Seville - Valencia - Madrid
Iglesia de los Santos Juanes, Valencia, also known as the church of San Juan del Mercado (Saint John of the Market), and is one of the oldest churches in Valencia. Built in the 14th Century this church was built in original Gothic style architecture.
Unfortunately a terrible fire in 1552 badly damaged the church. As a result Iglesia de los Santos Juanes, Valencia as we see it today is a completely refurbished structure. Perhaps the only original zone left is the façade facing the market area with its interesting bass relief crowned by a small tower displaying barroca architecture. Nevertheless the majestic décor of the church keeps the spirit of old tradition, culture and of course architecture alive.
The Iglesia de los Santos Juanes, Valencia, Spain is beautiful inside. When in the church do not miss out to look up at the huge dome crowning the church. This dome is further decorated with the beautiful frescos giving an absolutely majestic look to the church.
