Things to do in Kandy
Sri Lanka - Colombo - Negombo - Dambulla - Kandy
Something you can do in Kandy is checking out the Kandy Hills. More than the city itself, the purpose of visiting Kandy is to get out, trek along the trail of the hills and ride a horse or pedal a bike. Whatever it is, the Kandy Hills are worth exploring at a leisurely pace. The Spice Route is another facet of Kandy. The drive is bordered with innumerable spice gardens some of which are open to the public. Here, you can pick up the garden Masala to take home, or simply breathe in the spice-laden air as you drive along. The Spice Route also makes for a pleasant stay that makes way to see more of Kandy - a land all age groups enjoy.
The Temple of the Tooth Relic is Kandy's most popular sight. While you are
here, stop at the Tusker Museum on the grounds. It houses the remains of the
elephant of the animal that carried the Tooth Relic through the parades for
half a century. The Kandy Lake is the center of the city. It was created by
the last king of the Kandyan Empire. According to legend, the king's rivals
were murdered and impaled at the bottom of the lake before it was filled with
water.
