Negombo is a coastal wetland of 6,232 ha in extent. It is situated in Ja-Ela divisional secretariat in Gampaha District of the Western Province of the country, Sri Lanka. It is located by the shores of a lagoon by the same name in Sri Lanka. It is populated by almost 65,000 people. This fishing village is at the mouth of the Negombo lagoon which is just 10 kilometers away from the international airport. Festivals and Events in Negombo is of varied range. They include Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Muslim festivals.

Inspite of being stinky the place remains a great tourist attraction. Negombo has large number of sightseeing to provide. Some of them are Muthurajawela Marsh, Buddhist temple at Kelaniya, Negombo, Old Dutch Fort gate, and Dutch Canal to name a few.
