Rose of Australia Hotel (The)
Don't be deceived by the exterior for once you get in at Rose of Australia Hotel (The), Sydney, you will realize that things are not what they seem. This recently modernized establishment proves to be a popular hangout in Erskineville and one of the main attractions of Sydney. The local citizens as well the tourists, who are fond of live music performances, must visit this Hotel.

It's not only about show, but also about the ambiance, the surroundings casting a light on Australian culture. While roaming in Sydney, having celluloid experiences in movie theatres, a visit to this Hotel at Erskineville would obviously provide you a unique experience of entertainment.

Rose of Australia Hotel (The) is also serves as a venue for social galas and individual ceremonies. Add more flavor to your entertainment at this Hotel by sitting above the trendy newly renovated bar. Have a sip from your wine glass and enjoy your evening with Australian tune. Rose of Australia also provides you a neat little restaurant, with a couple of private rooms, and a simple unassuming decor. Service was warm and friendly from the get go though there was a mix-up with old and new menus on the night.

For starters it generally serves or offers grilled scallops with ginger and lime butter sauce. The scallops are served with their shells on a bed of rock salt. Simply delicious it is! Coming up next is salt and pepper squid, which is pleasurable though the batter coating isn't somewhat crunchy. The final entrée of chili and garlic prawns on saffron risotto was almost great; the prawns were juicy and moist, but the risotto was typical and rather bunched up.

All in all, Rose's restaurant is good for an occasional meal, the service is friendly, the presentation of food is also surprisingly well executed and you certainly won't go hungry after an entrée and main.

Downstairs from the restaurant, there's a energetic ambiance in the fashionable recently renovated bar. There are two bars, one catering more for locals, with the usual suspects on tap. This latest cocktail bar is the place to be with lovely watermelon and lychee Caprioskas.
