Taipei Folk Dance Theatre Taiwan

Taipei Folk Dance Theatre was established in the year 1988 and is considered as the first dance company in Taiwan that deals with ethnicity. This is a professional company that upholds the culture of the aboriginal Taiwanese people. The aim of this dance theatre is to hold back the Chinese traditional dance.

Founded by Professor Li-Hua Tsai, the Taipei Folk Dance Theatre always had something new to present every year. Almost 600 performances have been presented in more than 40 countries all over Europe, Asia, Africa and America.

This dance theatre received world wide popularity and prizes for its great performances. Many critics have commented variedly against the Taipei Folk Dance Theatre. One thing that was common among all the criticism was that is one of the best platforms that give a close view of the ethical origin of Taiwanese culture.

Some of the great productions of this theatre are the Dancing of New Prospect of Cockaigne that was performed in 1990 and the other in 1991 was Cockaigne Culture and Affection. Some of the other excellent performances were Praise of Chinese Culture, Beauty of Chinese Dance, Princes Peacock, Rite of Dance and Music to My Dreamland, The Obsession of Mandala and The Multiplying Sprouting from the buds of Resplendent Classic that was presented in 2003.
