Taiwan Air Travel

Traveling to this island by air is convenient as Taiwan is located in the crossroads of the busy air routes of the continent of Asia. Almost from major corners of the world, tourists’ could fly to Taiwan. The airlines of Asia, Europe, North America and South Africa are connected with the Taiwan Air Travel.

Two major international Airports serve Taiwan. The Kaohsiung Airport Taiwan (KHH) that is situated at the south and the Chiang Kai-shek International Airport which is located 40 km towards the southwest region of Taipei. An airport departure tax of NT$300 is charged against the outbound passengers.

Domestic flights are also a major means of transport within the city. The Songshan Airport is one of the major domestic airports in Taiwan and Kaohsiung Airport has a domestic as well as an international airport.

During the Spring Festival, certain chartered flights are available. However direct flights are not available between mainland China and Taiwan. You have to fly via Macau or Hong Kong which are popular to have good airway connections. You can also avail other routes to reach Taiwan through Japan or Korea but it becomes expensive.

The local airlines of Taiwan are EVA Air and the China Airlines. The Cathay Pacific Airline has its flights scheduled to Hong Kong. Some of the other airlines of Taiwan are KLM Asia, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Northwest and many more.

The best way to keep an information on the cheap and available flights to Taiwan or if you have to go somewhere from Taiwan, is to keep in touch with the three local newspapers. The newspapers are published in English and hence it is a great help to the commoners.
