Birthday of Kuan Yin Taiwan
Kuan Yin is the Goddess of Mercy and is perhaps the most popular Buddhist deity in Taiwan and she is a figure that represents compassion, love and kindness.
She is an embodiment of a goddess that reflects the divine mother aspect of Buddhism; she is supposed to have the power which can relieve women from suffering. Women who have a problem of giving birth to children usually pray to this Goddess.
This Goddess is sometimes depicted as having one thousands hands perhaps to look over the entire world that is full of suffering and misery.
She is like a universal mother who has her eyes set on her children everywhere and on all times.
The traditional Chinese usually celebrate her birthday in the second moon of the Chinese Lunar year and they visit all the temples that have been built in her respect. Childless couples are also seen frequenting the temples as they come to pray for richness and a good future.
They usually celebrate the time with their near and dear ones, the goddess or rather the image of the divine figure is also used in a very funny way. Sometimes an image of the Goddess Kuan Yin can be placed in the center to prevent people from getting into loose talk.
