Youth Day Taiwan

This day was originally called the revolutionary Martyr’s day and it is there to commemorate the death on seventy two young revolutionaries in China in the beginning of the twentieth century.

The day of March 29 is an important date in the history of the Chinese people as it seeks to remind the general populace about the heroic achievements of the young and the sacrifice by the nation martyrs. It is a day to remind all and sundry about the achievements of these great people and gives some time to the ordinary citizens to reflect on the past and revive the legacy.

The incident which is actually celebrated is the tenth attempt by the Father of the Republic of China Dr Sun Yat Sen to topple the then Chinese Government. The army commanded by Huang Hsing was engaged in bitter struggle and warfare leading to the death of some seventy two brave young men.

This sacrifice has not gone unnoticed and the twenty ninth of March has been singled out by the Republic of China Government as a mark of respect to those young people who had laid down their lives for a better tomorrow.
