Located in the eastern Asia, the island of Taiwan is famous to have some of the friendliest people in the world. The country is one of the favorite tourist destinations all through the world. The population of Taiwan according to the estimate of July 2006 is 23,036,087. Almost more than 18 million of the inhabitants of Taiwan who are considered as the natives are the Chinese descendents. These Chinese had migrated from the provinces of Guangdong and Fujian and entered to the region of Taiwan in the 18th and the 19th centuries. After the year 1945, more numbers had migrated from the mainland China and settled in Taiwan. Almost 370,000 aboriginal people inhabit the central and the eastern region of Taiwan who are originated from the Malayo-Polynesian. The growth rate of population in Taiwan is 0.61% recorded in the July 2006 review. Among the ethnic groups, the Taiwanese comprises of 84%, the Chinese from mainland are 14% and the aborigines comprises of 2%. Talking about the literacy rate of Taiwan population, almost 96.1% above 15years can read and write. People from infants to the age group of fourteen comprises of 19.4% of the population. The age group of 15 to 64 years consists of almost 70.8% of the population of Taiwan. The age group of 65 years and above consists of 9.8% of the total population of the people. The birth rate in Taiwan is 12.56 births per thousand populations and the death rate is 6.48 deaths per thousand according to the 2006 reviews of Taiwan.
