Taitung Taiwan

Taitung in the South Eastern part of Taiwan is one of the most beautiful and hence one of the most popular tourist destinations in Taiwan. Spreading over 3515 sq km, the place is the third largest city in Taiwan. Placed between a breath taking coastline on one side and the picturesque Central Mountain Range on another, the city had a wonderful spread to offer to its visitors. The vast resource of subtropical vegetation and wild life further add to its charm.

The Green Island, with its coral reefs and tropical vegetation, is the one of the most visited places of Taitung. The hot spring in the island is one of the very few salt water springs of the world. The island had been home to different aboriginal tribes and still preserves the fascinating tribal cultures.

The Orchid Island nearby is another popular destination with its tropical flora and native habitat.

The National Museum of Prehistory preserves a large number of stone coffins and artifacts that had been excavated in the 1980s. The displays in the museum feature the ancient lifestyles of the Peinan community.
